Co Ownership Program
At Babes & Danes, our CO - Ownership program is designed to place exceptional, breeding-quality Great Danes in carefully selected homes while maintaining and improving our program.
Rather than raising our dogs in a kennel environment, we partner with dedicated families who provide, loving, committed homes while working alongside us throughout the dogs breeding journey.
This allows each dog to live as a cherished family member, while still contributing to a thoughtfully planned, health, structure, focused breeding program, and help continue our amazing lines.
What Co - Ownership Means
.You receive a top quality, pick of the litter Great Dane
.Your dog lives full time with you as a beloved family member
.Babes & Danes retains breeding rights for a limited time
.You gain mentorship, guidance, and hands on experience in:
1.Conformation (Show) & Sports
2.Health testing
3.Breeding and whelping
.You receive incentives throughout the program
Price
Co-Ownership Puppies are $3800 for approved homes participating in our program!
This is a partnership, not just a purchase.
Qualified homes may receive incentives and rewards for active participation and success within the program.
Incentives are offered to homes that:
1.Actively participate in showing and or sporting and earn titles.
2.Be committed, communicative and willing to learn & grow within the program.
3.Complete all OFA Health Testing and pass!
INCENTIVES:
$50 per sport titles- Fast Cat, Agility, Scent Work, Trick Dog, Tracking, Farm Dog, Dock Diving, Protection Work, Hunting, etc. 5 titles max.
$50 for CGC personality and temperament title.
$100 for active participation in conformation showing, minimum of 10 shows. $100 for completion of all OFA health testing (CHIC)
$200 for earning AKC Champion title (CH)
$300 for earning AKC Grand Champion title (GCH)
Why we offer incentives-
We are passionate about preserving and improving the breed through active, involved homes. There's not enough people that show and sport these days, this supports the success of our dogs and their owners, as well as bond you closer, and reward dedication, effort, and achievement within our pack.
Location Requirement
CO owners must live within 2-3 hours from Camarillo CA, and be flexible for:
1.Health testing appointments
2.Vet Visits ( as needed for our program )
3.Shows and Sport events
4.Breeding and whelping coordination
Breeding Terms
. Babes & Danes retains breeding rights during the contract period.
. Females typically remain in the program for 3-4 litters (have to deal with heat cycles)
. Males are used on an as- needed approved basis.
We cover all breeding related expenses including: Progesterone testing, Stud fees, OFA testing, whelping and puppy care...
Co owners are responsible for: Food, routine vet care, training, and regular daily care for the dog.
Whelping & Breeding
Females:
. The dog remains with you during pregnancy
. She returns to us approximately 1-2 week prior to delivery
. Stays with us during whelping and puppy raising
.Returns homes after puppies are weaned ( 6 -8 weeks )
Co owners must be comfortable with temporary separation during this time, and must be fully transparent, open, and have amazing communication throughout.
Males:
.Must be on call for vet visit ( sperm collection, etc )
.Must meet up if we need to do a in person tie
CO owners must be comfortable with not having their male not neutered, and must watch male at all times, from never having unwanted accidental litters. Must be fully transparent, open, and have amazing communication throughout.
Expectations of a CO Owner
We are extremely selective about our co own homes.
YOU MUST:
1.Maintain open, honest, and consistent communication, Be A Pack!!
2.Be willing to learn and participate in shows, sports, and training.
3.Keep the dog in excellent condition ( health, weight, cost, structure, personality)
4.Follow our feeding recommendations, and advice.
5.Properly manage intact dogs ( prevent accidental and unwanted breedings )
6.Be committed to the dogs life, love and cherish them until the end.
7.No plans to relocated within the next 5 years. Being stable.
8.Willingness to allow home check and provide references.
9.Be committed to continuing proper training and socialization.
10.No rehoming, selling, sending to a shelter, of any kind.
Completion Of Program
Once all breeding obligations are fulfilled:
. We cover spay/neuter
. Full ownership is transferred to you
.You accomplished the legacy of this amazing Great Dane line.
. Your dog gets to remain the rest of their lives loved by you!
